Well since my mother was from african descent I was not allowed to be a member of religious orders by peru law. However Holy rosary prior let me volunteer and perform menial tasks in the monastery.

I went through my life as a good example as how my faith helped me believe in the church all though most members of the church didn't believe in me.

If you were not allowed to have holy order by law,why did you still want to receive it?

Well my father left me at young age with only my younger sister and mother living in poverty, I spent countless hours daily praying and I knew god wanted me to become a priest. I then took action and and took any opportunity to help others and do my calling. I wanted use my gifts to help and heal others.

Since I am soon to be confirmed what gift of the holy spirit helped you the most in your life?

The gift of understanding, since I was not allowed to receive holy orders I had to understand that this is what the people were taught it is not their entire fault. I also had to learn to forgive. Since you are soon to receive a special sacrament you need to understand god's word and apply it to your daily life. You need to live a life following god's orders and not just asking for help when needed by rejoicing and thanks him when times are good. You need to be a fully dedicated catholic and if you do just so you will have a holy great

These words, appearing in St. Bonaventure’s “Breviloquium”, exemplify the true meaning behind the sacraments. Each sacrament in the Catholic faith is designed to make people into holier human beings, and allow for believers to learn more thoroughly and deeply about God. In addition, sacraments provide a higher ground on which followers worship and come closer to God on a greater level.…

I have recently read the book Kisses from Katie and am writing to tell you how this book has changed my way of thinking. This book, written by devoted Christian, Katie Davis, is very inspiring. It shows that even though you are only one of billions God created all you need to do is say yes to Him and He can use you for His good. The vivid descriptions in this book have made me sad, mad, and happy. I could not believe the conditions these people were living in, while here in America we are living in such comfort.…

Many people don’t know what they want to be when they “grow up”, as for my mother she didn’t know what type of religion she wanted to be in when she “grew up”. However, she did know the basics that she believed in which was God, the Holy Spirit, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Bible that being said she considered herself Christian and raised me as a Non-Denominational Christian. That was until my senior year of High School when my mom decided she no longer wanted to be part of the Non-Denominational Christian faith and switched over to becoming part of the LDS faith known as the Mormons and flipped my life upside-down with their different views of norms and values. Growing up Non-Denominational Christian is fairly simple faith and to me…

I inspire to be many things, mainly having a philosophy of serving others in the field of health care, I believe we should form a symbiotic relationship as professional health provider, making it our obligation to not only understand the symptom but the social effects and developing possible cure; supporting and strengthening our existing institution while providing a better quality of life. I acquire these values nearly three decades ago, where I had the opportunity to volunteer in my community at the local church on Staten Island. As you know the church can serve a community in many special and unique ways, from tutoring the youth, to transitioning young adults into first time parenthood, as well as, assisting the community with entitlement programs. One of the major anxieties and financial struggles in my community were families managing a loved one with multiple-infirmities. This is when I began to see the church as much more than a place…

This past summer I worked at a camp that I had been working at for a year now (2 summers and 1 winter camp). I knew that the upcoming summer (2017) I wanted to focus on getting a medical internship, and probably wouldn 't be able to maintain a job as a camp counselor, so this past summer would have been my last summer as a camp counselor!…

Faith in Action Paper I spent my 15 faith service hours volunteering for Feed My Starving Children and I helped the maintenance crew around the school. While I did this I made new friends and grew as a person as well as in my faith. I probably spent about 8 or more of my service hours volunteering for Feed My Starving Children. Before when I was younger, I would go in because my older sister needed service hours and scoop some veggies and powder into a funnel for an hour and a half. Then after the session my sister would have me walk up to the counter and ask for a slip of paper with the service hours on it, so she give them to her school’s counselor and get the hours out of the way faster.…

During my experience of feeding the homeless around my city, I chose to go to the first neighborhood I’ve lived in out of several. As I was taking in the nostalgic scenery, I motioned towards a man who took shelter behind a dumpster. Not wanting to startle him, I kindly greeted and offered him one of the many pb&j ’s I had prepared earlier. “I don’t want your goddamn sandwich, I’d rather eat Mcdonalds,” he said harshly, assuming I was helping him out of pity and not the kindness of my heart.…

My family went to church every Sunday for years until a reverend that my parents respected was asked to leave the congregation and when I decided to not be confirmed into the congregation as a teenager. I remember getting my first bible from my church after making my first communion and memorizing “The Lord’s Prayer”, but most of all I remember learning The Golden Rule. “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 7:12, English Standard Version). I believe that this rule has truly helped shape me as a person and I do not think that you have to be religious to find meaning in this statement, which is why I believe it stuck with me.…

In the book Joy Unspeakable, Walter Brueggemann notes, lament is the language of prayer in the mouth of people who believes that God will answer, hear, and respond. Prayer has a power if we pray and believe it, we can receive any good thing through Christ. We see in the Biblical story that Isaac prayed to God for his wife, because she was barren; and the lord granted his prayer, and his wife Rebekah conceived. We also witness the power of prayer in the Bible, when Elijah prayed for no rain, and it did not rain for three and half years.…

God also graces us with the seven gifts which are: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord. To give our gratitude to God we must utilize the gifts we have received after becoming a member of the church, and to willingly let the Holy Spirit into our hearts. Now that we are officially part of the church, we must help guide others to find God, so that they can also become confirmed. That’s why before we are confirmed we pick a sponsor to watch over us and guide us through our catholic faith. I personally, chose my older sister Mary because I admire and look up to her, and I knew that she would be the perfect sponsor for me.…
