MIKE GENTRY, (early-twenties) looks stressed as he waits outside the courtroom door, the hallway is a whirlwind of activity.

The courtroom door swings open and out bursts RUSSELL GARRISON, now FIFTY. He is a big time defense attorney, has grayish dark hair, and he's dressed sharp. Behind him, we get a glimpse at the filled courtroom.

Mike sneaks up to Russell from behind and taps his shoulder.

MIKE GENTRY
Mr. Garrison.

Russell jumps.

RUSSELL GARRISON/ T HANKS
Mr. Gentry, why is it that every time I hear your voice outside of the office, I get agida.

MIKE
I'm sorry Mr. Garrison.

RUSSELL
I'm sure you are. Why don't you fill me in why you're here and not back at the office?

MIKE
(Clears his throat)
Mr. Rentore is in jail for murder.

It's true, and I just wanted to give you a heads-up on what will likely be the leading story on all the networks this evening.

Russell shakes off a stunned look on his face and smiles.

RUSSELL
Oh, now I get it. Everyone at the firm thought it would be a great Labor Day joke right?

Russell cracks a smile.

MIKE
(Serious)
No, sir Mr. Garrison.

Russell's patience is wearing thin.

RUSSELL
You know my friend, if you continue with this April fool's joke, you force me to call Police Chief Ramos, and if he laughs at me.

Not happy Russell shakes his head.

MIKE
I understand, sir.

RUSSELL
(Grins)
Okay.

Russell takes out his cell and puts it to his ear. It rings on the other end.

RUSSELL
It's ringing, last chance to come clean.

Mike drops his head.

RUSSELL
Hi Juan, it's Russell...
