1) On a website calls “10 Most Ethical CEOs of 2015”, I saw the report about the former CEO Mike Duke of Wal-Mart who pronounces to change the plan that Wal-Mart starts to sell their food with lower salt, fat and sugar content as well as lower the price of fruits and vegetables. (onlinemba.com) Even though Mike Duke is now already retired from Wal-Mart, but this change is such a good ethical decision that he makes when he is still working on the CEO position. First: When facing ethical issue, we need to clearly know what is happening. Don’t rush and think about it to see if it is ethical or unethical. Because “It prevents rash decisions, prepares us for more thoughtful discernment, and can allow us to mobilize our discipline.” (blink.ucsd.edu)
Second: Once we clarify and decide the situation, we need to think about what is the best way to deal with the problem. Some solutions can maximum the benefits but some are not and we should think about what result would the solutions bring.
Third: I think this as an important step. Evaluate the solutions’ value carefully. Ethical issue can be difficult to decide; therefore it is necessary to balance the loss and gain. Like Mike Duke, he evaluates the result that the change can probably brings, even though this company’s profit can be less, but more importantly, it is a beneficial to the society.
Forth: After deciding a correct ethical value and find out the corresponding answer, I want to use the “PLUS” questions from the Frank Navran’s Model to ensure the decision. They are detailed and covered. When every question can give a “yes”, I think it is time to make the
