In this cartoon, by Mike Barton, there is an old man on the foot of the bed, on his knees in his pajamas. The man looks like he is praying. The talking bubble over the man says “Oh--you’re here! I was hoping I could leave a message.” He’s clearly talking to God, but I don’t think he does this often. I think the overall message of this cartoon, is that we don’t talk to God like He asks. Barton drew a bubble on the ceiling like its “the man upstairs” answering to the old man. The issue with the man seems to be, he is trying to “leave a message” for God, rather than have a “conversation” with Him. Most people either think God doesn’t have time for their problems or doesn’t want to hear about their issues. They don’t realize He’s been watching,
