Mikasa Alternate Ending

Sunlight, pale and muted, streams in through the window in thin, thread-like ribbons and spills across the bed in which two figures are tangled together in. Everything’s still, quiet; the air isn’t too hot nor cold, but pleasantly balmy.

The arms around her withdraw, and Mikasa listens as Eren shifts and stretches himself awake, emitting a loud yawn. Letting out a huff through her nose, Mikasa turns her head and appreciates his physique; toned and flawless.

Letting out a yawn of her own, Mikasa lets her flutter shut, relishing the moment, and she fends away the smile which pulls threateningly at the corners of her mouth when she feels Eren’s lips on her cheek. “Morning,” he murmurs, his voice hoarse. She can’t suppress the smile when she feels his hand snake its way underneath the sheets and rest on her swollen stomach. “Sleep well?”

She reaches up and cards her fingers through his dishevelled hair, appreciating the moment. It’s not often they get to do this.

“I love you,” Eren hums and Mikasa wonders if her heart will ever stop skipping a beat whenever he says those words. She smiles and looks into Eren’s alarmingly green eyes. They’re half-lidded, but breathtaking nonetheless.
