Peter Skrzynecki poetry explores the desire as individuals to belong to a community as it is a common life experiences that we all share and is reflected in many ways due to the experiences concerning belonging. Peter Skrzynecki demonstrates these desire throughout his poem ‘Feliks Skrzynecki’ and ‘Migrant Hostel’ which communicates the need for familiarity; a sense of disconnection is developed as they move to a new residence during their displacement. ‘Feliks Skrzynecki’ is a tribute to his father whose sense of belonging as a migrant but is sustained by his original community. The speaker feels a sense of loneliness as she feels like she doesn’t connect to the society or her surroundings. The audio begins with a soft, slow pace melody then to a loud, noisy daily life sound to maintain interest to the audience. The speaker begins her story, as “it will seem like every other day” with an unenthusiastic tone to highlight her daily life routine and to emphasise her life is repetitive. The speaker tone intensify, when she says “The world doesn’t know your God damn name” suggest her frustration as being nameless shows a loss of identity that she doesn’t belong to the world. The speaker list her “parents, …sister, … grandma, … best friend, … second best, … fifth best” displays how many people can she can call, and demonstrates how many people she can find a connection to however her tone drops when she tells the audience “none of them will call you back” implies that the speaker is out casted and her frustration as no tries to call
