My developing interest in midwifery can somewhat be accredited to the fact they do one of the most important jobs in society. To bring a life into the world is truly remarkable which is why I find the work of a midwife to be one of the most admirable. I look forward to the aspect of being able to support, empower and care for women through varied stages of pregnancy. I believe that I work well under pressure and would thoroughly enjoy the challenges that midwifery can bring. I feel I possess the necessary skills and attributes that will allow me to relish the opportunities that a midwifery course brings. Communication with residents has enabled me to strengthen my listening skills and has provided me with the ability to communicate with those who have communication difficulties. Not only has this improved my patience, but it has also provided me with the opportunity to demonstrate my caring and compassionate attitude towards the residents. Working at the residential home means I am often dealing with vulnerable people, as I would be on a labour ward. Although pregnant women may be healthy, they can be vulnerable throughout pregnancy and delivery, meaning midwives must be able to deal with …show more content…
This can be accredited to the fact that I have based my coursework on a Midwife. This has allowed me to look at all aspects of midwifery and enhanced my passion for the course. I have not only looked at the role that a midwife plays but I have also looked at how a Midwife implements care skills in everyday work. I have looked at aspects of midwifery that people do not tend to think about, investigating anti discriminatory practice in midwifery and also looking at safeguarding. I am also studying biology, which has a great correspondence with a midwifery course. I now have a greater understanding of the human body and physiology as well as knowledge on many health conditions and
