Groupthink refers to the kind of thinking in which members of a group seek concurrence because of cohesiveness among group members whose critical thinking becomes severely impaired as a result of it. They do not seek alternatives to courses of action when presented with policy making decisions, and instead, they are more likely to engage in irrational and dehumanizing actions directed against outgroups. This phenomenon is very strong and common place, but can be very dangerous because group members are often driven by the desire to have social conformity because of social pressures exerted by members of the group. In order to maintain the cohesiveness of the group, objections raised by a group members are more often than not subjected to internal pressure in the name of achieving group consensus. In most instances, maintaining group loyalty is the catalyst that leads to group members supporting policies that might detrimental to the nation.…

Gentrification, Groupthink, and the Right to Housing Introduction What does the right to housing mean? Many perceive the right to housing as a right to refuge from the world, shelter from the elements, a place where a person wants to be, or a place worth fighting for. One can say that the right to housing means less to the majority of housed people, who take this right for granted, than those whose very existence may hinge on this right. The United Nations states that everyone shall have “a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, [and] housing…”…

Not only the topic for group project was assigned late, but I never had a chance to see the marking rubric and, therefore, to know the instructor’s expectations about my work. Despite the tight deadlines, our group equally divided the workload among four people and started to research the literature about the topic.…

When investigating questions of prediction be sure to develop if-then statements to focus and clarify on any important issues, analyze the problem, use evidence to determine any cause and effect possibilities, and evaluate evidence to be sure it is credible. Lastly, questions of policy should always imply a problem, that is limited in scope and be controversial. When a problem is present, it must be solved but it must also remain limited so that it can be analyzed by your group thoroughly in time. In addition, questions of policy should be controversial because groups are given a chance to consider all alternatives to agree which are the best. 2.…
