Midsummer Night's Dream Love

“Life without love is like a tree without blossoms or fruit” (Khalil Gibran). In reality, everyone falls in love and it cannot be prevented or avoided. People believe that love is a wonderful emotion where no one could come in the way and ruin it. In the play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” love is not portrayed to be magical, but rather the opposite. It is shown that love is not just an emotion that people choose but instead it is something more powerful than that. It could control anyone and they could end up losing their identity. The play has three different lovers that prove the true nature of love. Love is problematic even when people choose who they love, it is blind because it can cause someone to ignore reality, and it is fickle because two people could be influenced by another person so that they think they are truly in love when they are not.

This shows how love can be influenced by another person so that the two people believe that they are truly in love when they are not. Another example would be Oberon putting the magical flower drop on his own wife’s eyes for his own selfish reason.
