More Sleep, Better Students Imagine yourself sitting at your desk, taking an exam. You slept for all of 5 hours last night and you are tired. Once your teacher turns on classical music, you aren’t concentrating on your work anymore. It seems that you might even fall asleep. This is an all too common scenario in schools today. According to the website Start School Later, 20-30% of high school students and 6% of middle school students fall asleep in school each day and these numbers could increase. Kids and teenagers alike don’t get enough sleep and this affects health, safety, and academic performance. Reading this, you might say, “That seems awfully extreme,” but a major multi-state study conducted by researchers at the University of Minnesota
