In Rocky Mountain Middle School, there are only bathrooms for men and women. We should have gender neutral bathrooms in our school. If we had gender neutral bathrooms in our school, it would make genderqueer (transgender and non-binary) questioning students and feel much safer and better represented in their own school. To begin, many genderqueer students feel unsafe in single gender restrooms, and the psychological effects are damaging. Going into single gender bathrooms can cause anxiety, fear, and other stresses for genderqueer students.…

For the past five summers, I’ve worked at a summer camp as a counselor. I met a wide range of people, from underprivileged children to knowledgeable college students. Not only did I teach campers how to make ice cream and friendship bracelets, I made lifelong connections with many of the other counselors. Camp is where I learned what it meant to be part of a supportive community. Although most of us only see each other during summer, it’s an amazing feeling to come back to such a devoted group of people and work together doing what we…

Although every grade level deems difficult, I believe that 9th grade is the hardest grade because of the grueling effects of low self-esteem, pressure and worry that every student must bear among the already heavy load of their school frets during freshman year. To begin with, low self-esteem can truly deprive a student’s drive to excel in the future. Therefore, that student could feel as if they are unwelcome and decide that it’s better off if they just drop out instead of dealing with the uncertainty of a different crowd.…
