This year the sixth grade students boarded the plane to Middle School. For the first time, the sixth grade students had to be able to do many things that they were not used to doing in fifth grade back in Elementary School. Some of those things include being able to open a combination lock, being able to get to classes on time with a four minute passing period, and they had to manage nine different classes throughout the entire school day. Also, the sixth graders did some really exciting things this year such as mummifying a chicken in Social Studies. Throughout the school year the school held a couple pf parties for just the sixth grade students to enjoy. There were many snacks and games that would keep all of sixth graders occupied at the

This was the year that allowed to discover that although I wanted to pull my hair out maybe a good 100 times, my class taught me that there is no better thing in life than making others happy and having the ability to surround yourself with those smiles. I realized that even by the smallest role, I can make a difference, and I knew that I wanted to do that for the rest of my life. This experience shaped out what I wanted out of life--…

Middle Grades are probably the most difficult grades to get through for everyone. During this time of physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and moral development for these students learning about the history of Georgia is literally the last thing they think about, if they even really think about it at all. These students are some of the most difficult students to keep their attention focused on the subject matter at hand, unless of course we are discussing them, then and only then will the teacher get their full attention. During the observation assignment I noticed a few of the developmental theories that correlated with the five developmental stages of middle school students: Bronfenbrenner, Erikson, and Hall.…

The teachers I observed at the lower grade levels of first and second grade used Core Curriculum. These teachers followed specific guidelines in their teacher’s guide books to help them schedule activities and lessons for the week. They are provided with work books and materials but get to decide on how to execute those plans. The teacher who taught the upper grade levels of high school had their whole year planned out. I observed Math and Social Science.…

If CCMS received one million dollars this is what I would improve the cafeteria, update the 7th and 8th grade wing, and sports. I would improve the cafeteria that way it could hold more people that way we don't have to have 1st and 2nd lunches. I would also improve the 7th and 8th grade wing because it's not really the best. First, I would improve the cafeteria. We need a bigger place to eat because everyone is all bunched up and it's way to crowded plus I think this might help other people that are claustrophobic.…

The setting of my 2nd focus child was a Little Bucs in the preschool room (Inventors) in the classroom, but we did visit the ETSU library during my first observation. They are 48 months-60 months. I observed a 48 month old, male. I will refer to the student I observed as "P." I observed from 10:00-11:30 both sessions. The classroom was reasonably big, but the floor was opened with toys and an upstairs area where the students can go and hang up there.…

Since I was in the neighborhood, I decided to visit Cal Poly. Since this school is a College more engineered towards technology and engineering, I doubt that I’d want to go here. However, so as to finish my homework assignment, I decided that it was now or never. Being more into the medical field, I didn’t really know where I’d begin my tour. Thus, I started with the place that I deemed most fun: the performing arts center.…

Grades- I previously attended Prairie View Middle School from 6th grade up until 8th grade. I think that Prairie View was a good school for me, For the most part I was able to get good grades (about 3.0 or higher) and make a lot of friends. Relationships with my teachers though where a whole other story. 6th grade was when I was able to achieve the best grades. The highest G.P.A. i’ve ever got was a 3.8, and I achieved that in 6th grade.…

Eating a meal and attending a class are equally important. One cannot be successful with just doing only one of these two actions. Eating give you energy for class, while attending class will give you knowledge to support yourself in the future. Thus, I decide to pick the Social Science and Humanities Building, or commonly known as SOCSCI by students, and the Tercero Dining Commons, or DC, to compare. It is true that SOCSCI and the Tercero DC are convenient locations, but there is more to these two places when I force myself to sit down and notice the details within both areas.…

When I start attending De La Salle (DLS) I was surprised by the focus on community, an attribute I had never seen in my public middle school. There are different circumstances that influence us to be successful or do well in school, and I believe one of the factors is what kind of school we are attending. Throughout my three years in middle school I lacked the spiritual and the community togetherness, but once I start attending DLS it was something different. I started to see the connections of the community. Attending a Christian school not only gave me knowledge of the Bible and our spiritual strengths, but also helps me to connect more with the community and people that are around me.…

Ethnography is one of several unique methods of studying culture, in which anthropologists analyze a culture’s intricacies. Likewise, ethnography refers to the approach an anthropologist takes when writing about a culture (Lassiter, 71). The development of ethnography is attributed to British anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowski. Malinowski was an advocate for participant-observation, in which the ethnographer immerses themselves into the culture for a long period of time, in the hopes of gaining an insider’s perspective. Participant-observation has several stages, and a few notable studies have been completed with this method.…

This question asks what steps should we take to protect human subjects? When the study begins, what steps do you think they took to begin with? None. Although, presently we attempt to protect feelings and future issues.…

Observations & Discussion I observed that the results for the simulated launch of each object conducted without air resistance produced the same results as every other object. This was due to the fact that air resistance takes into account the mass and diameter of each object tested, so the results with this aspect differ greatly from one object to the next. I observed that when air resistance is considered, the lighter an object is or if its diameter is small, the object tends to travel farther than its heavier and wider counterparts. This is due to the forces acting on the object like gravity. Uncertainty…

I really enjoyed the time I spent in Mrs. Flinn’s fourth grade classroom over Spring Break. I was able to observe for a total of four hours between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. During my time with the fourth graders, I took a closer look at the solid behavior classroom supports being used. Along with these supports, I was extremely impressed by the way Mrs. Flinn handled classroom management. Even though I observed during a very exciting week, she had great control over her students.…
