Middle School Miss

Improved Essays
It’s the end of the middle school years for me. I’m leaving, going to a new realm. The years of babying is over and the years of responsibility begin. Im highly excited to leave and go to the high school, but there are somethings that i’m going to miss. A whole bunch of things were so fun but others not so much. The things i will probably miss are some of my teachers, and the activities and projects we got to do. The thing i won’t miss are the, rude, incompetent, disrespectful people.

The one teacher in all of this school that i will miss is Mr. Mckenzie. Mr. Mckenzie was my old Social Studies teacher. He was very serious about his work and wanted things to get done, but he would also make funny jokes and tell us stories. He wasn’t mean at all. If you were a student that didn’t understand things or didn’t do your work, he would advise you to get it done or ask for help. I don’t see him much anymore, it’s rare. Mr. Mckenzie is probably going to be the only teacher i miss next year.

A lot of girls walk around acting like they are royalty. A lot of guys walk down the halls taking and acting like morons. It's insanity. They run down the hallways, jump, and touch the frame for the doorway. I will say that some girls do the same thing but mostly men since they are taller. Then there is how they talk to teachers. They are completely disrespectful. Young children think they are always right and when they are right, they are right. There is no changing some of the student’s minds.

After everything I have mentioned above, the good and the bad, I will miss it here. It's going to be bigger and the people I used to know, I know no more. I am entering another realm. Maybe in this realm I will take on my responsibilities. I won't just say I will, I will pull it together and get what I needs to go done, done. I'm going to another realm, wish me

In 1987, Annie Dillard writes an excerpt in her book ,An American Chase, that portrays how differently society views boys and girls. In the world that we live in now, males are allowed to do reckless activities without reprimand, but at the same time if a female did the same thing we would be reprimanded right there on the spot. From birth we are taught to never come out of the perfect little box that society put us in. The social view for men and women are completely different just due to the fact that they want boys to be looked at as troublemakers or loud while a female has to peaceful and quiet. In society women are treated unequal to men due to a stereotypical social view.…

According to psychologist Bruce Dorval, at every age girls and women faced each other making direct eye contact. While boys and men of all ages sat at angles to each other and looked at things within the room (Tannen 283). This age of development is about becoming and students in this stage need free time away from responsibilities to focus on exploring different roles and opportunities. The two boys I had been observing walked passed me while I was in the food court area, except now they had two girls walking "with" them. The girls were following behind the boys, but they were obviously together because they boys kept turning around to talk to the girls. One thing I noticed about many of the girls during my observation was that they almost always had their hand in front of their mouth. It almost felt like they did not want anyone to see their expression until they were sure they were giving the correct response.…

In order for society to function and operate as needed to people are expected to follow a set of norms that align with the morals of society. As an adult deviation from these norms is almost always met with punishment in some form even if it’s just a weird look given to you by a passerby. The devotion and regularity of society to practice and enforce these norms in daily life has lead to a devoutness that mirrors that of a religion. The fact that we do these activities not only daily but for the most part without a conscious thought, and demonize those who break from these norms lead, in his article Children and Civility author Spencer Cahill to term the way we socialize as “religion of civility.” Just as in religion these norms and expected…

For many students middle school is a time where many students are able to grow, find out what their interests are, learn, and become social. But in my case it was more about me dreading everyday having to wake up and go to school. My first experience with middle school was a very confusing time for me, and unfortunately I was mistakenly placed into a writing support class.
