Middle School Journey

My Journey Through 6th Grade

Before I started middle school I was scared. First of all, I had heard that you get a ton of homework. Second of all, I had never been through a transition before in schools and in classes. Third of all, I had never seen a fight before. Overall, I did not want to come to middle school. One of the changes I have had this year is I have learned how to manage my time better. First of all, I know how to plan out my day to get my work all done. For example, when we have a shorter class period I work really hard to get all of my work done in the shorter period of time. Second of all, when I get a lot of homework i make sure and do it all before i do something for my enjoyment. For instance, on Mondays and Wednesdays

Reflection Over that three assignments above and the other assignments we have done over this quarter I have noticed a way of think and formating I do when starting a assignment. When starting an assignment I don't start or finish things in order I'll do the main requirements for what goes where and create how ever many pages it needs then I’ll Start the assignment in the middle where I'm doing the main most important part first. For example this project I started with the hard moments essay instead of a title screen just to get it out of the way. I've noticed I don't talk much in class, even though I used to always get in trouble in language arts and reading for talking because I hated those classes, but not speaking much in class doesn't mean I don't contribute to class. I think I contribute a good amount I volunteer for questions (Sometimes).…

It quickly went from a nice, fun, vacation to a painful, terrible, nightmare. Just about every year before school starts while my mom has meetings for teachers, my dad takes my sister and I on a small, five day trip to different places. This year, we decided to go to St Louis. Little did I know that this trip would soon turn south very, very, fast.…

Middle school can be an odd and rough time for kids, as they change from being sheltered youth to responsible young adults. I failed miserably at handling that transition. The classes taught in middle school were supposed to be easy, especially now that I look in retrospect. Yet, I regularly brought home B’s and low A’s, at best, on my report card. I had barely challenged myself in middle school, if at all.…

For most students, the transition from middle school to high school is the evolution from childhood to adulthood. In my case, my middle school graduation was a quick transition for another reason. The first few months of my freshman year had my parents rushing my grandfather in and out of the hospital because of his failing heart. By this point my grandfather had battled off colon cancer, 3 heart attacks, and 2 open heart surgeries. At age 74 he was not a candidate for a heart transplant but he was able to get a defibrillator.…

At the age of twelve, I left the woman I love the most in Vietnam to start a new life with my dad in the United States. I was always wondering why my mom did not want to go with us, and our family could live together. But then as I have growing up, I realized that she sacrificed to stay there, so my dad can take care of me better. Remember the first day I went to an American middle school, I was clueless, difficulty in communication and the people around me have different cultures, and ethnicity. When in Vietnam, I felt so confident and proud of myself, but in United States, I started isolating people, I felt inferior and started developing a shell to cover myself from the world.…

Middle school is an inevitable phase of many of our lives. It is also a very memorable time- for both good and bad reasons. Yet, we all somehow manage to strive through no matter how tough the year gets. For me, at first, none of the typical horrifying middle school stereotypes fit how my sixth grade year was going. I had plenty of friends, understood my classes, and I didn’t appear to be too awkward.…

Especially to appreciate your personal weirdness and individuality. The truth is I was scared of middle school, just like Megan was of changing schools. My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…
