Middle School Journey Analysis

Middle school has brought many emotions, many challenges, and yet many exciting opportunities. In eighth grade specifically, these emotions and challenges were especially relevant in my life. In your eighth grade year, you are beginning to realize who you are supposed to be which can be very challenging. To represent my eighth grade year, I chose the song “The Long and Winding Road” by the Beatles. When listening to a Long and Winding Road, the fist emotion that I felt was sadness. The entire song speaks of loss and heartbreak which is conveyed through both the lyrics as well as the music. However, upon a closer examination, there are hints of optimism that exist within the song. Although middle school is tough, perhaps the lessons that you learn in middle school are required for you to journey the long and winding road of life. Something that was particularly hard for me this year was not being able to participate in the sports that I love. For the entire year, I have been experiencing constant hip pain. This has been extremely frustrating for me especially because I have been to multiple physical therapists/doctors and they have not been able to help me yet. This summer, I am most likely going to have surgery which will hopefully help me go back to swimming and running. …show more content…
For someone completing middle school, this is a reassuring message. Middle School can be very confusing. There is enormous pressure to conform and be just like everyone else. It takes courage to have faith in yourself and be true to what you think is important. I believe this song gives you permission to believe in yourself and that you will reach the destination you
