Why Is It Important To Be Successful In Elementary School?

School is an extraordinary journey that prepares us for life’s challenges in the future. I knew middle school wasn’t going to be filled with coloring activities and jigsaw puzzles like what I had experienced in elementary school. My junior high years were unexpectedly difficult. In order to reach my goals and be successful, I had to mentally prepare to be determined, focused and responsible.
6th grade began on August 10th; I felt nervous but confident. I expected my new classes to be a breeze this year. My teachers seemed nice, I liked the school, and I had already meet some new people―what could possibly go wrong? I strived to become better and work harder until I felt content with the work I had accomplished. (add more detail about how

In September of this year, I was called up to the front office unexpectedly. I thought to myself, "I haven't done anything bad. Am I in trouble?" I walked into the office and the councilor handed me and six other students a packet. She began to explain the information included, "Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen (REACH) is an education program the allows students to sign a $10,000 scholarship for college. This packet will be sent to the Fulton County District school officials and the ultimate decision will be made there." I spent hours writing and perfecting the 11 page packet, and turned it in on the due date. The final decision was made on October 2nd only nine students were selected to receive the scholarship award. I was in social studies class, during 8th period, when I heard my name on the intercom once more. Though this time I felt different, uncomfortable. I slowly walked to the front office and was told to go see the Principal. I found his room and saw a cheerful expression on his face as I entered, he exclaimed "Victor, you just won 10,000 dollars!" I felt as if my heart had dropped to the ground, I had no words and I couldn’t stop smiling. He continued, " Nine students out of approximately 94,000 were selected. You are one of them." We had a 10-minute conversation about the next steps to be taken and he explained the counseling and the commitment involved. He congratulated me once more and I returned back to

After almost one-hundred and eighty days, the 2015-2016 school year is approaching an end. So far, I have concluded that middle school is basically like building a house. Before middle school started, in fifth grade, the house only had the boards and the main skeleton of the whole structure. All of the basics are learned in elementary school: learning how to read, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, fractions, the founding of America,, etcetera, but by the time students reach sixth grade, new knowledge builds onto what is already known. Letters are added into the familiar math equations; stories are written with all of the reading and grammar knowledge; unfamiliar people, wars, and awakenings add onto the history of America.…

I moved from San Diego, California to Derby, Kansas in the summer of 2017. I joined Derby Middle School, I hadn’t been to a real middle school before, even though I was in seventh grade. I was in online schooling with K-12 at home. I was new to multiple classes and teachers, assignments on paper, and I was new to a lot of people around me. When I joined Derby Middle School, I thought of it like nothing, thinking that no effort would get me through the year, I thought that my grades didn’t matter as long as I get C or higher.…

On the first day of my 4th period Pre-AP Social Science class, my teacher announced that she would be nominating 2 students for a scholarship based on their academic performance and service to the community. For an 8th grader, this seemed to be the most exciting opportunity I had ever heard of. It would allow some separation from my ultracompetitive classmates at one of the top middle schools in California. Even though history was not my forte, I devised a regimen that I would follow. I studied everyday afterschool, spent hours upon hours on projects, and never turned in an assignment without checking it over 3 times.…

Middle school can be an odd and rough time for kids, as they change from being sheltered youth to responsible young adults. I failed miserably at handling that transition. The classes taught in middle school were supposed to be easy, especially now that I look in retrospect. Yet, I regularly brought home B’s and low A’s, at best, on my report card. I had barely challenged myself in middle school, if at all.…

A new journey in my life began on August 13th, 2014 as my school principal cut the red ribbon celebrating the opening of a brand new high school. Little did I know, it would become a journey of growth and unique experiences unlike any before it, further refining and adding to my inner sculpture of identity and talent. I was going to Liberty High School, therefore it was necessary that I adapt--quickly, yet strategically. Throughout my life, I had never imagined that my high school experience would reach and exceed my expectations in the way that it did. I had the unique opportunity most people don’t get in life: to be part of a grassroots movement in establishing a culture that would enrich future students with tradition and values for many years to come.…

Sixth grade for was one of my most difficult years of my life so far for a few reasons. First off, sixth grade was my first year of middle school, meaning a whole new school, new school system with class schedules, lockers, multiple teachers, and having passing periods were all new concepts for me to grasp as a kid. More importantly however, the second reason sixth grade was so difficult for me was that over the summer leading to that school year, me and my family left the Catholic church that my mom’s family had been going to for about a hundred years or so, and it was a completely different environment for our entire family because we spent the entire summer up to the first week of school looking for a new church in our area, going to a new…
