Should Middle School Student Be Drug Tested
Nowadays a drug addiction is increasing and almost everyone has used it once in his live. It has become a habit to use it and most teenagers show off to other people that they are grown up by using drugs. These drugs could harm and impact badly physically and mentally. Adults might slightly have strong immune system which can prevent the negative impact of the drugs. It is now becoming an important issue that either middle school students should be tested for drugs or not. It was concluded in this study that substance abuse can be reduced with the help of drug testing. On a survey they found only 1% students of 8th grade who have ever used illicit drug and 14% who have even taken alcohol. It shows that random drug testing can prevent the students from substance abuse.
It was reported by (Gregory, 2013) that students who undergo drug testing are less likely to take drugs in later years. Drug intake is less in the students of 6 to 8 grade.
Students with drug testing are less likely to be addicted of drugs in later years as compared to those students who never undergo such drug testing. In this study 7 districts of United States were taken under consideration and after investigating and observing the impact of drug testing it was concluded that with the help of random drug testing, this addiction can be controlled. It was found by this study that by the implementation of drug testing, this habit can be restricted. It can play a role of effective tool in reducing the drug usage in teenagers. As teenagers are more likely to attract to these kinds of things and can harm them as they are unaware and careless about the consequences. Sometimes they take more drug of it which may lead sometime to death. So it important to take immediate steps in order to protect the future
In middle schools students should be chosen on random basis. They should be considering for test from grade 6. Drug test can be carried out in different ways. There are different methods which can be applied to identify the presence of drug. It can be done by taking sample of hairs. Result duration depends upon the length of the hairs or it may take 12 weeks. Drug test can be carried out by taking sample of urine which will take 1-3 days for the
