The cookbook “The New Book of Middle Eastern Food” is reviewed by Judith Sutton, who also is a cookbook author, editor, consultant, and recipe taster. Judith Sutton writes a monthly cookbook column, which appears in Chocolatier, Food & Wine, Fine Cooking, Gourmet and Library Journal. Claudia Roden is a well-known author. Her works include “The Book of Jewish Food”, “Food of Italy”, and many more. She has won numerous awards for her cook books, including the James Beard Award for Cookbook of the Year. Claudia Rodin was born in Cairo, Egypt, where she found an interest in middle eastern cuisine. After completing her studies in the United Kingdom, she became a cultural anthropologist. Purpose:
This article gives people a basic understanding of what the cookbook “The New Book of Middle Eastern Food” is about. Judith Sutton also provides a short description of who the author of the cookbook Claudia Roden is. The article is not bias; however, it seems opinion based by saying the cookbook is “An essential purchase”. This article is more of a review of the cookbook, rather than a scholarly article. The author of the article seems to agree with the cookbook and its point of views.
Accuracy:
The information is accurate, because the author of the article provides information supported by actual evidence. For example, to persuade the readers to purchase the cookbook, the author of the article wrote that the cookbook contains over 800 recipes; which after some research, I found out that, she is correct. On numerous occasions, the author of the article states the name of the actual author of the cookbook, and provides detailed information about the Claudia Roden –the author of the cookbook- life.
