Every person has standard rules they have to obey based on what society tells them such as laws, but what makes us different is we each have our own code of honor to live by as well. This code of honor is our morals and values set in place to define how we make decisions. As Alice Waters once said, “ The decisions you make are a choice of values that reflect your life in every way”. A few of the values I try to embody are being able to work as a team, being loyal to those I love, and living in a Godly way to make sure I am not causing others to stumble in their faith based off my actions.
One thing that is important to have being apart of a sports team is being supportive and successful together. Teamwork is being able to work in a group and be able to succeed with whatever tasks you’re faced with. While on the tennis team I had to figure out what battles were worth fighting over and what weren’t. Sure, I had challenges with some of the girls at different times during the season but I had to take the whole team into account and how it was going to affect us as a whole, not just myself. As I’ve matured through out high school I am committed in acting this way because I am now a role model for the younger girls on the team. To be loyal means to remain in constant support of those to whom you have developed a relationship with. Loyalty means a lot because through it you are able to see who will be by your side through thick and thin. I had a friend that moved to Saipan for a year and a half to be a missionary and even though there was a huge time difference and sometimes we couldn’t always talk we maintained our friendship because we were loyal and didn’t want to lose each other.
