Each family structure has its unique characteristics. The first type of family is nuclear family in which a couple lives with a biological or adopted children. Parents in these families play clearly defined roles and provide for the family’s needs. The second type of family is blended families, the growth of this family is a result of increased number of divorces. Such a family is made up of the biological mother or father, a step parent, and the children of one or both parents. These family can easily lead to neglect of the children who is not biologically related to one of his/her parents and family harmony is harder to maintain than nuclear families. The third type of family is third-parent families, which consists of a single mother or father with children. These families usually experience financial hardships. Marriage comes with responsibilities. As a lifelong union between a husband and a wife, marriage requires a couple to love each other; without love, a true union is not formed. Although feeling of love can change over time, it can be maintained if both sides put effort and consideration into it. Another responsibility brought by marriage is commitment. In a healthy marriage, spouses are expected to make commitments such as working through their differences and remaining faithful to one another. The most important part is to keep the commitments even during times of hardship. The third responsibility is compromise. Couples that get married are never the same, they have different desires, different personalities and different set of values. In order to make a healthy relationship they have to have discussions and each one has to make compromise; for instance, if the female spouse enjoys budgeting but the male spouse does not care about where to spend money, the female spouse should not push the male spouse too hard to learn budgeting, and the male spouse should try to participate in budget
