I was playing basketball on my driveway and my ball went through the net, hit the base of the hoop, and rolled to the other side of the road. The road was empty and clear, and what I thought to be safe. The breeze blew lightly and the sun was shining brightly. Everything was making it such a nice day and I just walked across because, you know, the road was empty and it was a nice day.

I just heard a clock ticking in my head waiting for time to either run out or continue. Once the clock of my imagination struck twelve, I waited. Would it continue or stop, I wondered. While I waited I just thought of what heaven might be like, assuming I go there anyway.
Finally, after what seemed like a millennia, the clock’s second hand tipped to the one. I slowly opened my eyes after shutting them with fear of dying. The car was right there. That little red corvette which had stopped 3 inches in front of me. I was alive, thank the Lord.
I quickly got my ball and sprinted back to my house. As the car continued on its way by, I looked at the driver and wondered what this guy ever had against me or if it was just the universe’s way of saying “payback”.
Ever since then I’ve always paid super close attention to everything. The experience taught me that it’s important to be careful because no matter what you have, it can be gone in a second if you’re not cautious.
The next time my ball when out to the street, I made sure I watched and listened intently, waiting for the sound of something to come through or for me to see something out of the ordinary. I stood there for almost five minutes just trying to see if anything would happen; and nothing
