Microsoft SharePoint Online There are many tactics available for a business to gain competitive advantages over its rivals. Some of the tactics are very public, such as advertising, social media, and word of mouth, all of which have the ability to sway the opinions of people toward a business. On the other hand, there are tactics that occur behind the scenes, for example, the in-house procedures of how a company functions, which also have the power to impact people’s view of an organization. Why? Because a company whose employees work well together internally reflects a positive external image. Based on that premise, a business that utilizes information technology, such as Microsoft SharePoint, to enhance the core teamwork of the organization …show more content…
For instance, using SharePoint in conjunction with Office 365, a company gains numerous avenues to improve employee collaboration and communication. SharePoint also offers tools to improve content management, and to develop and manage workflows for team projects (Kroenke). These are internal goals that any business should regard as high priorities. This feature allows authorized site members to see changes made to lists or files, who made the changes, and when the changes to a file’s property information were made. This type of information includes modifications made to due dates on a task list, and comments made on files.
There are two additional features of version control that prove useful. The first one to note is the version restore tool, which makes it possible to replace the current version with a previous one, at which point “the restored version becomes the new current version. (Microsoft)” Additionally, there is the feature that provides the ability to view a previous version without overwriting the content in the current version, thus making it possible to determine the differences in the two versions (Microsoft).
In regards to security with version control, site owners set and control permissions to lists and libraries, and the files within libraries. This allows an administrator to control access and modification permissions allowed by site users, as needed, for employees to complete their assigned
