Microeconomics Class Reflection

There I am walking to my advanced placement microeconomics class, dreading entering the classroom. As I walk in and sit down at my usual seat, I wonder if it’s still too late to drop this class. It is too late unfortunately, but the thought still crosses my mind every time I would be in that class. After the last bell rings signifying that class will be starting, the teacher surprises us with a pop quiz. All ten students in the class groan, but reluctantly take the quiz because, well we have no other choice. This quiz was just like any other test I had taken in class, I had to keep rereading the questions just to try and figure out what it was asking and then pick an answer that hopefully was the correct one. Again Percy believes that the Islander has the advantage over the high school student because they do not have preconceived notions about the dogfish. The student knows what to expect when cutting into the dogfish because they have a lab manual and teacher there to guide them. I feel the best recovery method, despite my current feelings toward economics, is to give an economics class another try. Taking one of these classes in college may provide a much better experience than taking one in high school. College provides more freedom and flexibility for students to discover and see things on their own, while high school is just about the opposite. There is also less distractions, there’s no worrying about how I’m going to do my hair for prom or hoping I don’t trip while walking on stage during graduation. Taking the opportunity to retake another microeconomics at a different point in my life, may be the best for me, and many other students, to regain sight of what economics is really
