A world-leading provider of diagnostic products to the science industry is growing and require an experienced microbiology technician to join their Immuno- microbiology team. You will be responsible for the production and processing of polyclonal antibodies for streptococcal, staphylococcal and other assigned latex agglutination products. You will have at least a year in industry demonstrating core microbiology skills.

Job Purpose
To operate as a Technician within a team responsible for the production and processing of polyclonal antibodies for streptococcal, staphylococcal and other assigned latex agglutination products.
The role utilises multiple microbiology, Immunology and standard analytical techniques

Our preferred candidate will have a bioscience degree and proven relevant laboratory experience
Experience with microbiological bench techniques or suitable transferable bench skills
Experience of working within a GMP environment would be advantageous.

Technical training will be carried out for the use of new equipment or IT systems. Sometimes this is carried out by the manufacturers through specific induction training.

It is possible to work towards gaining a vocational qualification such as an NVQ/SVQ in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities at levels 2 to 4 (depending on your experience). Several institutions offer NVQs for laboratory technicians working in specific settings.

The Institute of Science & Technology (IST) offers several qualifications that are useful to teaching laboratory technicians. They include the Certificate in Laboratory Skills, which is offered at different levels, and a higher diploma in the disciplines of analytical chemical, biochemical and microbiological laboratory techniques. Continuing professional development (CPD) is important for all laboratory technicians and there are many courses and events that can help with it, run by organisations such as:
