My choice to have biochemistry as my major was the most logical, because for all of my life I have been interested in what life is composed of. I looked at the incredible things that people and animals do and I found that all the intricate working of biology and chemistry that made all of their actions possible, only added to the awesomeness of it all. Another important factor in my life that started my interest into the science of biology was my mother, who has a genetic anemia called Fanconi Anemia. Furthermore, while I am waiting to start my last year of undergraduate course work, I have also been auditing a few free classes online, including Human Physiology and Biology of Cancer. I have also made more progress on my research project, in which I have been studying anti-epileptic drugs through the use of computer models to study the enzyme-substrate interactions they elicit.…

My 25 years of medical experience are rooted in my professional goal to be a visual healing artist. Mentors of my previous medical profession ranged from surgeons, doctors, and firemen to patients and their families, all of which helped me learn about human anatomy, kinesiology, and compassion for humanity. My medical career started over 25 years ago as an administrative assistant. The field of science fascinated me even throughout high school. In my Sophomore biology class we worked on a project involving microorganisms from a local pond and from that point forth I knew that this was my dream job. I asked my Biology teacher, Mr Goudy, if he knew how the job market looked for a microbiologist and when he said that it was a growing field, it only made my passion for the study intensify. He also informed me of the growing need due to bacteria developing resistances to the medicines that we currently use at a faster than ever rate.
