Required Hours
The majority of microbiologists work regular traditional hours from Monday to Friday, starting from 9am and ending at 5pm. This career also allows workers have flexible hours. However, sometimes longer hours may be required to grow and improve their career (Shannon-Lowe and Cooke, 2010).

A microbiologists’ job duties include:
• Developing medical and industrial products for microorganisms
• Supervise and overlook the work of technicians, technologists, and other scientists in the lab
• Preform tests on food, water, and the surrounding environment to identify and analyze harmful microorganisms
• Documenting/Recording test results, test procedures, or inspection data
• Use different types of specialized instruments in lab such as electron microscopes, gas chromatographs and high pressure liquid chromatographs, electrophoresis units, thermocyclers, fluorescence activated cell sorters and …show more content…
