Ladies and gentleman of the jury: The Pigman by Paul Zindel is an exceptional piece of literature that is great for projects. With only a few shortcomings, The Pigman is a great choice for young adult readers looking for a true, raw story and is a favorable pick among schools. To begin, the story is narrated by John Conlan and Lorraine Jensen, two teenagers in the late sixties. Through a difficult series of events, they learn responsibility. This responsibility is a maturity which is portrayed differently than your average "coming of age" story.…

An article in the Smithsonian describes how scientists in a Chinese genomics institute used a common gene editing enzyme called TALENs to create micropigs, which weigh about 33 pounds at maturity. These micropigs were first created to study the human stomach bacteria and new medications, which can help answer questions about the human body itself. By using an enzyme to stop the pigs from growing, the researchers altered their DNA, which would then be passed down to their offspring. This is related to our enzyme unit, where we learned that enzymes can only break down specific substrate. By adding an enzyme that did not match the substrates used for the growth hormone receptors, the pigs growth hormone receptors stopped working, resulting in the micropigs to stop growing.…

Piggy was never listened to about his ideas on how to be civilized or how to help in any way he can on the island but the Author William Golding used him for other purposes. Piggy was a sign for intelligence and for order in the boy’s camp instead of turning into savergy. Piggy also was not a very survivalist but he had the ideas of helping to be one during his time on the island with the boys but is a more of a follower instead of a leader at times on the island. They abuse him because he is a bigger boy than the rest of the them and Golding probably wanted this to happen in the book to symbolize something. Golding also uses Piggy’s death to symbolize the loss of all hope for civilization of the boys on the island until they are rescued.…

The collection holds many antiques made from China, Spain, Mexico, and the U.S. Many of the pigs have adorable looks to them, some are just plain ugly or creepy. However, all of them show what kind of man Mr. Pignati is.…

Piggy’s dominant trait at the beginning of Lord of the Flies is intelligence. When “Piggy put on his glasses “it shows his brightness (Golding page 34).The fact that Piggy wears glasses shows that he is intelligent because it shows he have a great insight on things in the world. As Piggy says “nobody knows where we are “it illustrates his cleverness (Golding page 34).All of this goes to show Piggy’s intuitive because all of the other boys thought a plane would come and capture them meanwhile he knew they would be stranded. As noted in Lord of the Flies “acting like a crowd of kids” draws the reader to Piggy’s penetration. Based on this we must conclude Piggy is astute because he acts an adult while the other boys act as little kids.…
