The last step in urine formation is secretion, distal convoluted tubule, or collecting duct will remove hydrogen ions and other molecules from the peritubular capillary network. The remaining fluid go through the whole tubular system in order to form urine. Urine is a collection of substances that has not been reabsorbed during glomerular filtration or tubular reabsorption. Since urine is made following the above process, urine analysis can detect presence of many disorders by detecting abnormalities in the urine. Some of the abnormalities that can be detected by urine analysis are presence of cells (RBC and WBC), ions, metabolism (protein, glucose, lipids), and PH. increased concentrations of constituents that are not usually found in significant quantities in the urine can be a sign of a disorder. Kidney disease, urinary tract infection is some of the diseases that can be steadied by urine analysis. According to the data in table one the PH level of the student’s urine output is within a range which is from 5-7; but a couple of students have a higher PH level this can be a good indication that their body will form kidney stone, so having this test can prevent them from future surgery because the PH level of their kidney can be corrected by diet …show more content…
The test for metabolites (glucose, protein and lipid) indicate different disorders. Presence of protein in urine can be a sign of kidney problem because protein is one of the molecules that is reabsorbed in the kidney. Most of our participants had protein in their urine according to table 1, this can be a sign of some kind of kidney disorder or their body is over producing protein for some other reason. According to the data there was a normal glucose level in all students which is a good news because the presence of glucose in the urine indicates diabetes. When it comes to ketones all the participants had a negative result and its presence usually indicates that the body is using fat as a major source of energy. The presence of red blood cells and white blood cells in the urine is usually a sign of infection, or trauma that had been caused by kidney stone trying to pass through or external trauma,
