Women. The best thing that I personally believe the earth has given us. Whether it is a mom, grandma, daughter, friend, etc. If they are the “best” people that have been brought up on this earth we live on, why are we always misrepresented? In the work field, school, or even in a specific country. Misrepresentations and inequality for women can lead to a lack of self-confidence and entitlement. This is why today I am honoring former First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama. Michelle Obama had served our country as First lady for 8 years, and for those years I thank her for being the best role model any women could look up to. Michelle Obama is one woman I thank for teaching by example on how to be a strong, and independent women. She is an emblem of a hard working woman. She acknowledges the power that woman of all ages should have in order to take charge over their lives. Chapter five’s, “Getting the Message : Self Confidence, Assertiveness, and Entitlement”, really spoke out to me the most. Being a teenager girl there comes a lot of pressure when it comes to looks and how we feel on the inside, so this chapter really hit those key points as the reasoning and study behind it. During her years as former, First Lady of the United States, she had constantly stuck up for women and their hard work. I believe the former FLOTUS was an emblem of a hard working, and classy woman. The way she had used her platform was outstanding and she has left an impact on not only me but woman I know around me as well. Michelle obama does not believe in competition because it is something a lot of girls can get used to (Obama, 2012) which isn't healthy in the end because it can cause girls to have a lower self-esteem at a young age.
