Hanabusa said that she and her co-founders named the brand Uprising because the purpose of their clothing is to empower young professionals to rise up and strive to reach their goals.

“We just feel like thereʻs so many negative things going on...in the given climate right now, thereʻs a lot of people taking sides and weʻre just here to celebrate diversity,” Hanabusa said in describing the campaign. Hanabusa developed a passion for design from a young age, saying that she made and sold t-shirts to her friends in high school. After high school, she continued her education and refined her design skills at the Roski School of Design at USC.
