Michelle Hanabusa said she always aspired to be her own boss, and that she would find a way to do so. For the 26-year-old entrepreneur, that goal is becoming a reality. Hanabusa, along with two other business partners, started their own clothing brand called Uprising in November of last year.
Hanabusa said that she and her co-founders named the brand Uprising because the purpose of their clothing is to empower young professionals to rise up and strive to reach their goals.
“We’re for the people by the people mentality, we’re not giants where we canʻt relate to people,” Hanabusa said. “We want to...build a community where we can help each other to build our dreams.” They are currently preparing to launch their new social media campaign called American Made. The campaign involves over 500 people posting pictures of themselves on Instagram wearing the brand’s t-shirt with the words American Made on it.

Hanabusa developed a passion for design from a young age, saying that she made and sold t-shirts to her friends in high school. After high school, she continued her education and refined her design skills at the Roski School of Design at USC. During her time at USC, she said that she used to purchase clothing from vintage stores, repurpose them, then sell them to her fellow sorority sisters at Tri

Simms insisted.…
