Michelle describes her leadership style as an experience driven, encouragement providing educator. She shared that over the years she has worked with multiple populations from various backgrounds. During that time she has achieved great success, but has also made a few mistakes along the way. She stated that the mistakes did not discourage her from working with the student population but it helped her grow and develop into a better counselor, director and leader. Due to the lessons she learned during the beginning of her career and her life, she urges her staff to seek help and ask questions when they are unsure about something.

Michelle is currently working on her Doctorate degree and says that although she loves the work that she is doing she knows that she will eventually move on. She says that educating her staff on how to ensure the continuity of the program is extremely important because at the end of day the program was created to assist students with college completion and whether or not she is there the students need the services of the program. Students always come first to Michelle and she feels they should always come first to those who work in the student affairs
