The two main subjects that Michelangelo alternated between in his work was either pegan or religious. Michelangelo like most during his time had a love for religion which is no surprise that it would be his main subject when creating art. When he would sculpt a statue or sometimes paint a painting he would show proportion in the work. One example of this is a wooden “Crucifix” that he made after he dissected and examined the anatomy of dead bodies in a morgue. He leaned a lot about proportions from his findings and so implemented in into his work. In the “Crucifix” the arms, legs, and torso of Jesus are all proportional just like a human. In (The Timaeus, Plato (d. 347 B.C.) he once stated "The best bond is the one that affects the closest unity between itself and the terms it is combining; and this is best done by a continued geometrical proportion" He is is basically stating that proportion is perfect just like Michelangelo who believed proportion is beauty and therefore is perfect. Other art works that show is proportional skills include the statue of “Moses” which shows that his head is the perfect size for the rest of his body.
