There were many great Renaissance artists in the 14 and 1500’s. Previously, the Black Death killed thousands of Europeans. That chaos caused art to be slowly forgotten. In 1475, Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was born. Michelangelo showed his extreme knowledge and talent in his many wonderful works of art and literature that are still marveled at today. He was a painter, architect, poet, and sculptor that was also called “The Master of All Arts.” Michelangelo showed to be the most significant Renaissance Artist. He was a talented artist because he showed realism. IN THE DBQ: His famous statue “Pieta” showed realism with the veins and bones of Jesus. He showed great detail because he studied the human body. He shows other details of the Bible other than the “Pieta.” For example, “The Creation of Adam” on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. He was so good, that in the DBQ it says, “He… was… recognized in his own time for his artistic virtuosity.” …show more content…
After Michelangelo painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, Raphael distinctly altered his technique because Michelangelo’s paintings were really good. In the Sistine Chapel, his kaleidoscope effect caught the eyes of artists and others. From studying the classics He created art that was similar to the past art, but better. Michelangelo then made many magnificent sculptures and beautiful paintings. Just as the ancient Greeks and Romans, he made sculptures and paintings to glorify God. His statue “Pieta” showed, in Biography.com, “...Mary holding dead Jesus across her lap.” With the sculpture, he influenced many Christians. There were many great artists in the renaissance that made magnificent art that people still stare at in awe. Michelangelo proved to be the greatest, most significant Renaissance artist because of his “Pieta,” his “David,” and the entire ceiling of the Sistine Chapel with many more works to follow.
