Michael Weaver Case Study

Michael Weaver is a 55 year old Caucasian male. He has never married and has no children. Mr. Weaver has not had any contact with his parents or either of his two brothers in over twenty years. He reports to being sexually abused by a baby sitter and neglected by his mother. Mr. Weaver was born and raised in North Texas. He did not graduate from high school but completed a GED program a few years later. According to testing scores performed while incarcerated, Mr. Weaver is performing at a below average IQ.

When Mr. Weaver was a young adult he moved to San Francesco for a brief period of time. He was having problems with the law for having a young boy at his house playing with knifes, fire, needles and taking pills. Soon after, he returned to North Texas, where he continued to have trouble with the legal system. Mr. Weaver has spent the majority of his adult life incarcerated. Weaver does not have any source of income or SSI benefits. It was recently discovered that he previous was receiving SSI but, it is currently on a felony suspension. Mr. Weaver began using alcohol at the age of sixteen and soon after began using crystal meth, cocaine, and pills. Prior to his last incarceration he learned he had contracted hepatitis C. This has had a negative effect on his health.

Mr. Weaver was admitted to the North Texas State Hospital February 15, 2014, from TDCJ Mental Health Services on a Temporary Commitment, where he has been since a felony conviction in 1989. He has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia, paranoid type, pedophilia, antisocial personality disorder, and Hepatitis C. Staff has observed symptoms such as delusions, hallucinations, depression, mania, plotted against, isolated, etc. Mr. Weaver will stay at the North Texas State hospital until ready to discharge or when his Temporary Commitment
