With an award-winning movie based on his life from being homeless to becoming a successful athlete, Michael Jerome Oher was truly amazing. Michael Oher has faced many challenges and misfortunes in his life, yet he still became such a successful individual. A child’s early years is usually filled with abundant love and care but not for Oher. (“Michael Oher Biography” Biography). For Michael Oher, early intervention did not enter his life until the age of sixteen. Many factors came into play and Oher’s life changed drastically for the better when the Tuohy’s entered his life. His legacy started out with him homeless and now a wonderful offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). “I would have dreams all the time about me playing in the NFL. Every day I woke up, I said to myself... I'm going to work hard.. to get to that next level.” Oher’s dreams came true. (“Michael Oher Biography” TheFamousPeople). Oher did not start until his senior year of joining varsity football as the teams left tackle. He later requested to play in the NFL but canceled the request to play for the University Of Mississippi instead due to his foster parents having attended there. Oher’s grade-point average (GPA) was too low for him to play but he did not give up there. Leigh Tuohy helped by hiring a tutor to help increase his GPA. ("Michael Oher"). Once his GPA increased, he was able to play what he loved most, football. He was an exceptional player for the University, playing 11 games and even being a team leader. Oher ended up receiving multiple scholarship offers from prestigious Division One schools for his fantastic performance during games. Many of those scholarships consisted of offers from Tennessee, Louisiana State, Alabama, Auburn, and South Carolina. During that time, Oher also completed his graduation in Criminal Justice. In 2009, he pursued the NFL again and was selected twenty-third overall for the Baltimore Ravens and signed a five-year contract with them as a right tackle and later a left tackle. Oher’s contribution helped the Ravens tremendously by reaching the playoffs and making it to the Super Bowl XLVII against the 49ers with an amazing victory. The score was 34-31 points and everyone was overwhelmed. Oher became a free agent after his contract in 2014 but joined the Tennessee Titans not long afterwards and did great work there. He played eleven games, but had injuries that prevented him from playing. A significant injury was his big toe. The injury
