“AAAAA!” The crowd went crazy when Michael Jordan took “the shot”, this was a series winning, buzzer beater shot made by perhaps one of the best basketball players in history, Michael Jordan. An upcoming star at the University Of North Carolina led his team all the way to a NCAA national title in 1982.
This legend went to the Los Angeles olympics for USA’s men's basketball two years later and came back with a gold medal.
The same year, Jordan signed an unbelievably large 25 million dollar deal with the Chicago Bulls. The same year Michael signed $2.5 million dollar agreement [plus royalties of course] with the globally famous shoe brand Nike to produce a new shoe brand. Yet, it was clear this NBA rookie was a star, it was still a risky move by Nike. Boy did it pay off.
The Air Jordans erupted into more than a mere basketball shoe, it now is a sign of popularity in school halls all across the world. His first and perhaps most memorable commercial took place on an old basketball court in 1987 with Mars. In this commercial Mars keeps asking over and over what makes him good. He would say, “Is it the vicious dunks? no Mars,” Jordan would say. “ Is it the haircut? no Mars,” he would reply, “ then it’s the shoes! no Mars,” He would decline every time as the commercial goes on, but of course Mars keeps nagging the young star about his shoes but Michael declines every time. The funny part is at the end of the commercial it says, “Mr. Jordans opinions do not necessarily reflect those of Nike.
