Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. His parents are James R. Jordan, Sr and Deloris Jordan. When he was just a toddler he moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, because his parents didn't want him and his siblings to be raised in a bad neighborhood . Jordan has two older brothers, one older sister, and one younger sister. In 1978 Michael tried out for the high school varsity team, there was only 15 spots left and Michael didn’t make it because he was only 5’10. Michael was sad and devoted to make the team. That summer he grew 4 inches and could dunk and the team wanted him. He later enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1981. In His Junior Year he declared for the NBA draft, he was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the first round, and he was the third pick. His rookie year he averaged around 28.2 points per game, that year he received rookie of the year and was selected to be in the NBA All Star Game. The following season’s, Jordan received his first Most Valuable Player(MVP) award from NBA an honor he would earn four more times in 1991, 1992, 1996, and 1998. In 1991, Jordan was a key part of the team’s success to winning their first NBA championship. In September,1989 he married Juanita Vanoy. Later in 1992, he led the Chicago Bulls to beat the Portland Trail Blazers to win their second championship. The following year he won his third championship game. As a rising NBA star Jordan became known for his power and agility on the court,he landed several endorsement deals but his major one was Nike it pushed him in the spotlight. On July 23, 1993 Jordan had found out that his father was killed on the highway because of a fatal gunshot wound.
