THESIS:Michael Jordan went against many odds to become successful in his career, he had a competitive edge to win in every game that he played , and during his career he was recognized for his accomplishments as an athlete. Michael Jordan is one of the greatest basketball players of all time is and an inspiration to many athletes.

He never managed to make it out of the minor leagues and decided to return to basketball in 1995. In his first season back the Bulls were an unstable team and didn’t make it to far. According to critics, “Michael Jordan was viewed as only human” (Dow).They were quick to judge his average performance and believed his age had finally got to him. He was quick to respond with action, in only his second year back, he had an extraordinary season that ended up being an NBA record for 72 wins and only 10 losses and winning the NBA Championship for the fourth time in 1996. He showed no signs of slowing down winning two more consecutive titles until 1998. In that span he was once again named the NBA's MVP twice and NBA Finals MVP three times. He became the only player in history to have 2, 3 consecutive NBA championship streaks. At this point his dominance was no match for any other NBA star on the court and was highly respected as one of the greatest or even the greatest player of all time. After a successful run he retired suddenly in 1998 stating that, “Right now, I just don’t have the mental challenges that I’ve had in the past to proceed as a basketball player” …show more content…
All he needed was a chance in high school and once he made it to his college career and showed what he was capable of gained steam and his skills always seemed to progress with time. During his NBA career he set so many high standards for athletes to come that no one could or can compete with his accomplishments. Winning 6 NBA Championships in each of his 6 Finals appearances and the process to get there is one of the greatest accomplishments ever. With Michael Jordan's outstanding resume, he is the greatest basketball player of all time.
