Music and talent:
Michael Jackson was known as an American pop singer with many talents; in 1964, at the age of five, almost six he had the ability to sing just like his older brother, Jermaine. Joe Jackson did not realize Michael’s talent until Katherine found him singing in his bedroom dancing along to the radio. When Katherine told Joe about this he did not believe her. Once Michael sang in front of his father he was amazed. Later on before Michael’s 6th birthday, his father had formed the Jackson 5, which included, Michael, Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Jermaine. They practiced all the time in their living room, and then started to go to nearby arenas, and went throughout the mid-west performing their musical talents. The album stayed atop Billboard magazine’s sales charts for 9 months and sold more than 500,000 copies every week! “The girl is mine” one of the songs on the Thriller album was a duet with a former singer from the Beatles, Paul McCartney. With Succeeding single releases Jackson appeared as a person who could attract different audience like no one else could in the American music industry. “Billie jean” and “beat it” reached the number one; “Billie Jean” made him the first singer to be number one on the pop singles, pop album, R&B single and R&B album charts. (Figure3) His music videos showed his dance moves which were also imitated by others. His most famous dance move is known as, the moonwalk, it became every ones favorite move after he first showed it off while performing “Billie Jean” during the Motown 25 TV special in 1983. This move is considered one of the iconic performances in the TV history. Just about the same time as the moonwalk became popular, Michael began to wear one glove that was customized it was made with rhinestones covering the whole glove. He was asked about it in the TV show, 20/20 why he only wore one glove. He replied, “its cooler than two!” many people were fascinated with
