Michael Jackson Michael Jackson, the most well-known singer and dancer, also known as “King of Pop” was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana, with strict working family. As a kid Jackson showed interest in Music as did his family. His father, Joe Jackson who played Guitar, and his mother Katherine Jackson who sang quite often. He spent most of his life as a public performer. He was a part of a band with his other 4 siblings called Jackson 5 runned by his father. As a young kid he went through a pretty rough time, his father was extremely abusive, had no time for friends because he was stuck in studio for hours practicing and making new music. His talent of being able to sing and dance at the same time was probably one of the reasons for his huge success. Michael Jackson as a great dancer had surprisingly no training throughout his career, he was self-taught from beginning of his childhood. He had such a passion for dancing and singing, he was also able to imitate anything and learn it quickly. He was such a perfectionist too, he spent countless amounts of hours refining his steps and moves till they were flawless and eye-catching before the performance. He was extremely creative with his moves, he brought different techniques of various dance forms together, for example with his famous move and my favorite, the moonwalk. This certain dance was originally performed in the 1950s by a tap-dancer Bill Bailey and the dance move was taught to Michael Jackson by Jeffrey Daniel (Sanjay Joy, The Guardian). But as time went on, Michael Jackson went on to modify the dance and make it more glamorous by adding a snappier heel and a thicker glide.
