“When I see him dance and sing, it touches me, like a spirit; it moves me inside sort of like the Holy Ghost. But it’s more than singing and dancing; he manages to touch your soul”. These were the words from Isiah Lord Thomas III, one of the fans (Michael Jackson Chosen Voices). Not only that he captivated his audience through his singing ability, but his dance moves also captured their hearts in a deeper level. The forces of energy that exert from his dynamic dance movements were irresistible. His most extraordinary talent was being able to blend his music and dance move together so seamlessly that made him so successful in the entertainment industry. He was an American singer, dancer, songwriter and record producer. Rolling Stone magazine wrote that Michael was a ‘prodigy’ with ‘overwhelming musical gifts’ (Adapted from Triumph & Tragedy: The Life of Michael Jackson, Paragraph 2). With the guidance and rigorous training from his father, young Michael Jackson started his music career with his brothers when he was only 5 years old. At the age of eleven, Michael Jackson was known to be a pop and disco star. Jackson began is solo career in 1971 and by late 1970s he became the first solo artist to score the top 10 hits from one album. Jackson wasn’t only the biggest pop singer of his era but he changed the music style in the 70’s and 80’s. By the 20th century, Jackson was a defining star who became a global music phenomenon, broke country borders and racial barriers with music amongst people around the world.
