Michael Jackson and His Influence on Pop Music Michael Jackson was born on August 29th, 1958 in Gary, Indiana. He was one of ten among the rest of his brothers and sisters. His parents were Joe Jackson, his father and Katherine Jackson, his mother. In his lifetime, Michael had three children; two which were boys and one girl. Ever since Michael was a child he had been exposed to music and the show business. His parents were largely involved in the music making industry and booked gigs to make money for the family. As their children got older, they would add to the group and begin performing. It wasn’t until Michael was in his early teens that he would go on stage. In 1966, he won a talent show in his hometown of Gary. This ultimately sparked the group we all know as the “Jackson Five”. They became immensely popular and between 1967 and 1968 they signed on with their first recording company called “Steeltown Records”. During their time as a group they came out with many hits such as “ABC”, “Never Can Say Goodbye”, and “Blame It on the Boogie”. The “Jackson Five” became known worldwide and continued as a group for years, until 1972 when Michael decided it was time to start his own solo career. It would be one of the best …show more content…
