We all know Michael Jackson to be the King of Pop, but do we really know the man behind the mirror? It all started in a small town called Gary, Indiana. After nine long months, the town’s expected arrival was born. Michael Joseph Jackson was the newest member of the Jackson family. Michael was born into a big family in Gary, on August 29, 1958. As the Jackson family grew older, they discovered some of their own musical talents. The beginning of their talents was created in the living room of their small house. Each child would participate in the ’concerts’ they would make including Michael. As a young child, Michael would dance and sing to have fun with his siblings in their shows. The family never thought to realize that their own living room would be the start of a new band. In 1964, their father discovered each child’s talent starting with Tito. When Tito was playing his father 's guitar, the string broke unexpectedly. Instead of his father punishing him, Joseph saw his went talent and bought Tito his own guitar. While Tito played the guitar, he also wanted to sing along with Jermaine and Jackie. The three of them started their own band called The Jackson Brothers. Michael started in the band playing the congas while their youngest brother played the tambourine. Just like the new hit band was formed, The Jackson 5. Joseph quit his job at the factory to be a full- time advisor to their band. As Joseph gather the ’members of the band’, he would support them on every adventure they would take on stage. The first appearance of the band was in 1966 at Theodore Roosevelt High School talent show. At this time Jermaine was the lead singer, and performed The Temptations “My Girl”, following Michael singing Robert Parker’s “Barefootin”. The purpose of your childhood is to learn, and how to be independent. Each child should be involved in their school activities, be social, and most importantly have fun. My favorite part of my childhood was recess and lunch, the two basic necessities of school. although recess is good for kids, in this case, it was not for Michael. Michael wasn’t a fan of recess because he was made fun of being called a ’child star’. Even though the title was a result of his talent, it would be the start of his emotional roller coaster to loneliness and depression. Every child has gone through bullying one point in their life. Most often kids get bullied for their looks, the way they dress, or the way they sound. This was not the case at all for Michael. Michael wasn’t bullied for any physical appearance, but the name in which the world gave him. Although Michael was lonely, he became more scared and anxious about his father, Joseph.
