Michael Crichton Research Paper

Growing up in the 1940’s was tough for everyone. Having a father that you idolized as a journalist who later got drafted into World War 2, was not an easy task. Michael Crichton respected all over the world and viewed as one of the greatest writers had a unique childhood. 6 foot 3 inches and ill his whole childhood made Crichton to stand out (Crichton, Michael). Due to spending most of his time at home, Crichton began exploration into the field of science and journalism, following in his father’s footsteps. Michael Crichton was largely influenced by his time spent indoors as an ill child, his parents passion for literature and art, and the fields he began to study (medical and literature) while attending Harvard university.
Michael Crichton was born on October 23, 1942 to John Henderson Crichton and Zula Miller Crichton. Michael Crichton was born in Chicago Illinois, but raised in Long Island New York. Crichton was 6 foot 3 at the age of 13, was often ill and spent most of his time at home. While spending so much time indoors, he started to gain interest in science projects and writing. His father was a journalist that made an honest living. The ideas and thoughts behind writing inspired Michael. Michael once said, “My dad was a journalist, so I saw him typing when I was growing up, so it seem like a normal occupation, to sit down and type something as your job.” This led him to chase after journalism and follow the path of writing. Michael’s mother, Zula Crichton, also played a big impact on his life. She often took the family to various theaters, museums, and movies. Being surrounded by people that were quite involved with literature and writing urged Michael to fall in love with it as well. He began writing for the local town newspaper, high school sporting events, and for the university once he began studying
