Michael Crichton was born on October 23, 1942 to John Henderson Crichton and Zula Miller Crichton. Michael Crichton was born in Chicago Illinois, but raised in Long Island New York. His father was a journalist that made an honest living. The ideas and thoughts behind writing inspired Michael. Michael once said, “My dad was a journalist, so I saw him typing when I was growing up, so it seem like a normal occupation, to sit down and type something as your job.” This led him to chase after journalism and follow the path of writing. Michael’s mother, Zula Crichton, also played a big impact on his life. She often took the family to various theaters, museums, and movies. Being surrounded by people that were quite involved with literature and writing urged Michael to fall in love with it as well.
