1. Title—What is its significance? The title, Of Mice and Men, is being referred to one of Robert Burn’s poems, an 18th century Scottish poet. That poem was about a mouse which was carefully building its winter nest in a wheat field but only to have it be ruined by a ploughman, a man who uses a plow. Building its winter nest made the mouse dreamt of a safe and warm winter but faced the harsh reality instead of being frosty, isolation, and even death. The same concepts are here as George and Lennie dreamed for a farm of their own to live and farm on but faces a lot of challenges to where that dream couldn’t come true.
