October 6, 2016 was my fourth day visiting Miami Elementary School. Over the past couple of visits I have learned many new things as I observe the class and their activities. I have learned that by using music and colors when teaching, kindergarteners tend to learn better. I have learned that by rewarding your students when they do something good, makes the students want to strive to do the right thing more often. I have also learned that kindergarteners have a very short attention span, meaning they need to be constantly busy with new activities or they will lose their concentration. Today I learned in a new way. Instead of observing. Miss. McCord asked me to lead the class in one of their morning activities. This morning activity is called

MCI service over 60 families throughout Liberty City by providing early childhood programs, family, social services and health, and community building. Introduction: How Children Succed p.xiii&xv In this introduction I was surprised on how they are having three year olds filling out worksheets and completing drills on letter and number recognition (Tough, 2013, p.xiii). I did notice when my son went to transitional kindergarten that what was expected from him was what a kindergarten back then would be learning. When he went to kindergarten he was expected to know more than what I remember was required before.…

In addition the difference between North Miami Senior High school (NM) and North Miami Beach Senior high school (NMB) are my friends, the students and the teachers. Changing schools means new environment, new students and having to start all over. At North Miami Senior high school I had a lot of associates and friends which distracted me from doing my school work. My friends would often skip class and I would be the voice of reason to talk them into going to class, and sometimes would even walk them to their classes and watch them go inside and take their seat which then affected me because I would go to my next class late but it was all worth it, the reason why was because I cared about their future and education. Although I was the voice of reason, sometimes I fail into…

Upon arriving at Mrs. McGraw’s classroom a kindergarten teacher for the interviewed, welcomed me with a sincere smile. Mrs. McGraw has been a teacher for more than a decade, the primary reason for choosing this teacher is because her foremost emphasis is to work with the ELLs, I have seen firsthand the way she motivates all her students to reach their educational success. consequently, at the beginning of a new school year she request that all new kindergarteners whose primary language is not English to be in her classroom, therefore, providing an upscale education in the early years is a priority for Mrs. McGraw. First of all, selecting the accurate questions to interview Mrs. McGraw was not an easy assignment, however, the factor I took into consideration was that she enjoyed to work with students whose primary language is not English.…

When I walked into the preschool classroom, I noticed it was very large and very spacious which allowed enough space for each child. Natural light, provided there was no glare in the room, was able to help students learn more effectively. Upon entering the class, I quickly noticed all the children curiously turn to look who I was while they were having large group time for half an hour. During that time, they sang songs, had calendar time and the teacher did an overview of the day. I was very impressed at how cooperative they were for her.…

The classroom was filled with colorful carpets with numbers and letters, reading stations filled with picture books and little bean bags, cubbies where the children kept their coats and backpacks, and the children’s art work was hanging up everywhere. Every week we would have to visit the pre-k lab three times. We helped them cut paper, do projects such as finger painting their mothers a heart on Valentine’s day and a jack-o-lantern on Halloween, building LEGO bridges along with LEGO trucks, I even learned a couple new catchy songs as a way of remembering the days of the week and months of the…
