The University of Florida was founded in 1853. The seminary moved to Gainesville following the Civil War and consolidated with the state’s land-grant Florida Agricultural College, then in Lake City, to become the University of Florida in 1905. Classes began in September 26, 1906. They started off with 102 male students at the school. Some traditions have stayed the same today.…
That school was USC. After I discovered this I got curious about what USC had and what they taught there. I discovered that USC had one of the best…
I believe I am a good candidate to be selected for the Robert Vela High School National Honor Society because I am a dedicated student. My grades do reflect my abilities as a student, but my work ethic in the co-curricular activities that I participate is what really defines it as I put a lot of time and effort into them. In U.I.L. calculator applications, which is the main activity that I partake in, I sacrifice my time almost everyday after school and sometimes my lunch period throughout the school year, as well as the majority of my Saturdays to compete and practice. Not a lot of students would give up this much time and effort unless they are very dedicated. This also reflects my leadership and character as one has to work and communicate…
In his breakthrough article “Inventing the University”, David Bartholomae (1986) discusses the problem undeveloped writers have when it’s time to write for a class, they must use the discourse of the scholarly community they are speaking to. Particularly, Bartholomae goes to say that a student, “have to appropriate a specialized discourse, and they have to do this as though they were easily and comfortably one with their audience, as though they were members of the academy, or historians or anthropologists or economists” (p. 4-5). Basically, Bartholomae is saying that as students, you must feel one with the audience as if you were a part of the discourse community. It’s something like the statement fake it to you make it.…

There are many similarities and differences found when comparing Florida State University and University of Central Florida. Despite having these differences, FSU is an overall better college. There are countless subjects to choose when comparing these schools, but the main topics I chose to focus on were the schooling overall, the people, activities, and my career. Indifference, FSU overall is statistically better. FSU is a slightly larger school with 60,767 students vs 41,226 students, given it's a larger school it's acceptance rate is much higher than UCF with a 55.4% versus 49.6%.…
Does an HBCU offer an African American student more than a PWI? An HBCU, “is a Historically Black College or University, that was founded by our ancestors to educate us on our history as African-American descents.” Before HBCUs were a thing, African Americans were free slaves that were not allowed to get an education. This did not stop them from learning a way to read, write, and calculate math. The Philadelphia Quakers founded the Institute of Colored Youth, so the children will have the opportunity to get an education.…

This school was the first school in the world dedicated to advancing the education of the deaf and hard of hearing. Edward Miner Gallaudet was appointed as superintendent of the school.…
Well it has been almost 4 months that I have been attending Roanoke Valley Early College. I love it here and I don’t see how anyone couldn’t. So far I have learned a lot about school. By taking time to observe my surroundings and everyone around me, I have learned that everyone in high school is not your friend and that I am learning how to sense a bad vibe before I let anyone get too close to me. RVEC is the only school that has taught me that all teachers are not these people that hate their job because the teachers here including the ones I don’t take yet are always showing us that they really want to be there and help us and teach us.…
Manatee School for the Arts High School is rated Manatee County’s Best High School according to sources. Although I was a good student in my Middle School years, I have seen that I have received better grades on tests and quizzes in eighth grade than I did in sixth grade at my former home school “Haile Middle School”. I believe that I learn better at MSA, I understand things better, and I have less concerns about my education that I did at Haile. The teachers at MSA really support you when you need it. It seems to me that the teachers at MSA are exceptionally concerned about your…
