Introduction:
You're a student at NFVMS sitting in your 8th-grade science class and you're on the verge of sleep until you're suddenly handed a mysterious vial that inside holds a white mixture. You’re told that you have to figure out what is in it using physical and chemical properties to help you! What is a physical and chemical property you may be asking. A physical property is something you can touch, feel, smell, hear, and see so you’re using your human senses. A chemical property is when the physical property has been changed and now you see gas being produced, temperature changes, and smell different odors. Not only do you have to figure it out but you have a claim. A class has come to the conclusion of MgSO4 , C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 being in this mixture.

Claim:
The class had to defend their reason with the data from chemical and physical properties. Starting with the physical they were only allowed to touch, smell, and shake/hear the mystery mixture at first until we were handed a platter of chemicals. Students began mixing up mixtures

To start the experiments for chemical properties the students were allowed to drop in 5 drops for one scoop of chemical or the mixture. Some changed their opinions so we conducted another experiment that was based off how they settled. If after they were dry they were either dry and reformed crystals or sticky and felt like jello. Deciding this wasn’t enough they tested each temperature of the mixture they thought most resembled the mystery mixture. MgSO4 , C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 reacted with the same big and small bubbles and slight cloudiness as the mystery mixture when water has been added. The timed fizz was rounded to 3.5 minutes but when students tested just C6H8O7, and NaHCO3 that only rounded to 2.5 minutes comparing to the mystery mixture of rounded to 3

    When calculating the quantitative solubility of the unknown compound in water, the amount of water that was measured in the hydrated cylinder and poured into the flask could have been greater than expected. This is more likely than less water being used because more solute was needed to saturate the solution than expected.
