There are many reasons for muezzins to pursue their profession such as traditions. Many Muslims grew up in families where delivering azan was a tradition passed and encouraged from one generation to the other. In addition, education is another reason to pursue this profession. Some muezzins were taught in Imam’s school or Istanbul conservatory to specifically build their ability deliver the azan. Delivering the call to prayer is so important to the muezzins because it is a way to declare their faith and receive the merit of the good deed. The muezzin Isa Aydin in the film said, “The more people I can attract to the mosque with my voice, the more successful I am”. Therefore, delivering azan is also significant to muezzins because it is linked to their success in life.
