Mexicue Research Paper

Mexicue is a Mexican restaurant hence, the "Mex" at the beginning. It has its very own modern/vintage type of look which is not terrible. I ordered Poke (po-kay) just to taste the twist this restaurant made on the dish and it contained tuna, avocado, brown rice, mango, watermelon radish, creamy chipotle and mint. The tuna sort of had this melt in your mouth feel however it was bland so I added chipotle sauce on top and made it way more appetizing. The watermelon radish is not one of my favorites vegetable so I did not like that. The Mango was okay, not great but I mean it was just sticks of mango slices. It had very little mango favor. My guess is it wasn't ripe enough. Then, the brown rice was the greatest in my opinion. It had the right amount of

Uaxactun is a sacred place of the ancient mayan people. Located in northern guatemala it was first explored by American archaeologists in 1916. The excavations at the temple pyramids of Uaxactun significantly furthered our understanding of ancient mayan civilization. The scholarly article Multispectral imaging of an Early Classic Maya codex fragment from Uaxactun, Guatemala by Nicholas P. Carter & Jeffrey Dobereiner outlines the process of analyzing small fragments of a codex from an ancient Uaxactun temple made of plaster coated bark dated back to 400-600 AD. Using the process of multispectral imaging, which is to capture an image and analyze it at specific frequencies across the electromagnetic spectrum, archaeologists were able to detect not only paintings and writings, but they found a second hidden layer of writings that had been resurfaced and repainted over in ancient times.…

Although I do not fear that I have not already earned my spot, I will proceed to justify my case. I have been an adroit student of Ms. LaDuca’s for the last year and a half; she knows exactly what kind of student I am. Since seventh grade, I have been an ebullient honors student in the top ten percent of the 2016 cohort and have not received any grades lower than an A. The Mezzotint Analysis

    • 1120 Words
    • 5 Pages

MR James’s “The Mezzotint” is set at an English university with its “homely and familiar” (2011, p. 24) libraries, museums and common rooms. This contrasts the stereotypical gothic settings which Dani Cavallaro presents: ruined castles and abbeys, murky crypts and fungoid dungeons, clammy cellars, dank passages and stairwells echoing with howls, groans and tapping fingers, dripping charnel houses and ivy-clad monasteries, secret cabinets, storms, bleak forests and treacherous marshes. (2011, p. 21) However, James claims that “the more ordinary and normal both setting and actors are, the more effective will be the entangling of them in a dreadful situation” (Moshenska, 2012, p.1195). According to Briggs, James also believed that a fairly familiar…
